Community Speed Watch – Calling for Volunteers

Community Speed Watch (CSW) is a national initiative where active members of local communities join with the support of the Police to monitor speeds of vehicles using speed detection devices.Image of a speed watch volunteer wearing a hi-vis jacket with the words Community Speedwatch on the back

Our local Community Speed Watch Team is in need of volunteers and is in danger of folding without support. If you are interested in becoming a Police Volunteer then please contact Rob Harvey, Neighbourhood Beat Manager by email at or by ringing 101 and leaving a message for Rob.

A perfect evening for A Perfect World

On Saturday 13th July, over 200 people joined us in the beautiful surroundings of Hearn Field for this summers Miracle Theatre production of A Perfect World. And what a perfect evening it was; many thanks to all of you who supported the event.

A Perfect World told the story of a feisty young woman as she ventured into a ‘Boy’s Own’ world of undiscovered jungles, treasure maps, campfires and penknives. Leading her team of quarrelsome explorers she stumbled into a bountiful paradise, whose inhabitants seemed entirely peaceful, productive and fulfilled.

Annual Parish Council Meeting

Many thanks to all of you who joined us at this years Annual Parish Council Meeting at Hearn Field Pavilion on Friday 17th May.

The evening was a celebration of our wonderful volunteers who support us and our parish activities. We heard from Tim Boarer, Chairman of the Parish Council, who updated us on the Council members and their responsibilities. Councillor Evans unveiled the new Parish Council website and Lizzie Dean, Chairman of Hearn Field, officially launched The Wood Shed: the new bar facilities at the Pavilion and shared details of all the great activities that have taken place at Hearn Field over the last year. Last but not least, Andra Johnstone, Chairman of the Combeinteignhead Village Hall committee, talked about what’s been going on at the village hall, upcoming events and, importantly, the appeal to raise money to replace the village hall roof.
